Network & Unified Communications Support Architect

Summary

This is an internal OCIO position and the candidate will be responsible for the overall health and support of unified communications and network services for DXC’s internal OCIO owned systems at core DXC office locations.  Deep and extensive experience designing, operating, supporting and troubleshooting network, Skype for Business and related unified communications are critical requirements for this role.

·  Develops, defines, promotes and oversees larger or more complex strategic solutions, architectures by combining business and solutions, expertise. Focus on unified communications, video conferencing and network architectures, support, performance and enhancements.

·  Candidate must be able to work in Tysons Corner, VA - no remote option is available for this role

Essential Job Functions

·  Partners with the UC and network service architects to ensure supportability and health of network and UC systems
·  Lead support aspects of unified communications and network solution development, architecture & design from concept ideation through development, launch and support. Interfaces with development, account and executive management to support all company voice, video, and collaboration requirements.
·  Provide analysis to support performance tuning and capacity and performance planning, provide troubleshooting and problem-solving support for voice and video conferencing issues.
·  Partner with the service delivery organization to define best practices for supportability and ensure they are followed
·  Lead troubleshooting of UC, video conferencing and network service impacting events
·  Ability to design cost-effective communications solutions to meet new and evolving requirements, serves as technical consultant on architectures for internal systems, acts as the subject matter expert on multiple voice, video and related systems.
·  Provide leadership and technical expertise to network, UC and voice engineering & delivery teams, OCIO, and other IT team members, support the design and analysis of the voice network migrations, improvements, and enhancements
·  Develop requests for proposal, RFP review, vendor selection.  Interfaces with vendor team, reviews project progress, provides requirements for POCs.
·  Provides leadership and strategic guidance during the solution development process to ensure bridging of the gap between business problem faced by company and benefits available from company solutions and services. Translates company requirements into operational strategies associated with each solution and offering to ensure company needs are met in a cost-effective and timely manner.
·  Provides Subject Matter Expertise for deliver team, solutioning team, enterprise architecture team and business users.
·  Researches existing business environment including trends, best practices and company preferred architectural frameworks and alliances to ensure company services match business trends. Suggests appropriate upgrades or relevant solutions to enhance company competency in meeting changing business needs.
·  Facilitates reduced risks to company; reviews solution SLA adherence
·  Identifies business requirements; evaluates concepts such as compelling event and problem identification to ensure that delivered solutions meet both short and long-term company business performance expectations.

Basic Qualifications

·  Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred
·  Ten or more years of network and UC design and operations experience
·  Twelve or more years of hands on voice engineering experience preferred (Skype for Business/Lync, VoIP, SIP, PBX, ACD, TDM, Contact Centers)
·  Must have deep experience and expertise with VoIP, SIP, SBCs
·  Must have knowledge of and experience troubleshooting UC related issues including the ability to troubleshoot Windows based servers, SBCs, and user endpoints such as PCs, Macs, and IP phones as well as the ability to utilize network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark.
·  Five or more years with video conferencing solution design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
·  Extensive knowledge of Skype for Business, Polycomm , Pexip video conferencing systems
·  Experience with Exchange and Microsoft Office 365 is a plus.
·  Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems, product-line hardware and software
·  Experience working with business environment, business industry and competitor products and services
·  Five or more years of business solutions experience
·  Experience working with office productivity tools; delivery assurance and/or industry standards on deliverables
