We are recruiting a European Affairs Policy Officer based in Brussel to integrate the Public Affairs Department which is in charge of representing the interests of the Group before the European institutions; coordinating the Group's involvement in various European professional organisations and informing the relevant corporate entities of the latest legislative news.

Main responsibilities:

As European affairs policy officer, you will be in charge of monitoring general EU political and institutional developments for the team and will assist your colleagues on waste & circular economy and investment policy. You will also take care of internal communication, write newsletters and manage the directorate’s intranet.
Based in Brussels, you will have the chance to meet stakeholders, acquire or deepen your practical knowledge of the European decision-making processes and gain a thorough understanding of the internal functioning of European institutions in a dynamic operational professional environment. In addition, you will be able to establish a strong European network in Brussels.

Reporting directly to the Head of the Group Public Affairs of Veolia, you will:
-Monitor EU political and institutional developments and communicate internally on a daily basis;
-Be responsible for day-to-day monitoring of the European institutions' legislative and regulatory activities related to Veolia’s waste & circular economy, as well as trade and investment policy;
-Analyse and summarise reports and draft legislation;
-Contribute to relevant public consultations published by the European Commission;
-Participate on behalf of Veolia in relevant external meetings and conferences and report back on these;
-Help raise awareness of the department’s activities amongst the Business Units and refine communication tools to this end;
-Contribute to the monthly departmental newsletter;
-Ensure the presence of Veolia in major European conferences (Green Week, European Week of Regions and Cities...),
-Acquire a good understanding of the Group's businesses, positions and challenges.

Profile Required:

Educational background: Masters degree in law, international relations or politics, with a strong focus on European affairs

Previous experience: Have experience working in a professional environment as well as knowledge of the EU decision-making process. Previous experience as an intern in the European institutions is desirable;

Skills: Demonstrate strong writing and summarising skills, both in French and English;Show very good interpersonal skills, cooperation and team spirit;Be knowledgeable in one or more of the following domains: waste, circular economy, and environmental policy; be able to work independently and take initiatives.

Languages: Be fluent in French and English (fluency in another European language is an asset)
