Earth Observation – Application & Processing Expert

Position Description
Be part of something exciting. Our Italian Space business (based in Frascati - Rome) is expanding and we looking for a talented and ambitious Earth Observation (EO) Application and Processing Expert to join our growing team.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Your role will be to implement innovative processing workflows using modern data analytics technologies to support production of downstream services on a range of international projects. You will be exposed to a dynamic and challenging environment and work as part of multi-disciplinary international teams.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You’ll need EO application domain expertise including: Knowledge of main EO missions and data, Data processing techniques and tools/libraries, Data format and their handling techniques. Ideally you will also have experience of scripting and/or coding expertise and capability of building processing chains, from fast prototyping to operational grade, including: Java, Bash scripting, Python.

You’ll be joining a busy team so you’ll need to be flexible and have the capability to quickly adapt to fast changing environment and to work effectively in multi-located teams. You will need to demonstrate a good level of spoken English in addition to native Italian.

Desirable skills include:

• GIS and Geospatial data processing techniques and protocols, including knowledge of the OGC standards, geodata catalogues, etc.
• Knowledge of the ESA toolboxes (e.g. SNAP, SMOS-BOX, proba-v Toolbox, etc.)
• Web oriented design and web services
• Cloud computing and container technologies
• Big data processing technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Apache Spark, etc.)
