Code Enforcement Inspector

 

This is a professional position to provide a safe and healthy environment for the communities we serve by ensuring that the housing stock and land in the municipalities are in accordance with the housing ordinances of the cities we serve. Duties include, but are not limited to: inspecting and investigating properties and lands; determining nature of environmental or health hazards; issuing permits or citations; understanding and complying with state and federal regulations on land usage, zoning, business permits and building access. The candidates considered for employment for this position will be required to:

 

·    Perform property maintenance inspections on residential properties
·      Perform inspections on existing and new construction projects and activities utilizing proficient inspection methods to ensure      land development, building code and general safety codes to achieve governmental and environmental compliance.
·      Investigates and resolves complaints in a professional and timely manner.
·      Issues notices of violation, stop work orders, citations, and any other enforcement documentation when necessary.
·      Prepares court cases and appears in court to prosecute citations.
·      Works outdoors and during inclement weather
·      Uses computer for data entry and photographic equipment for report preparation, generation and maintenance of records and documents

 

·  Job Requirements:     
·  Graduation from a two-year or four-year college preferable; however, graduation from high school or possession of a GED is required.
·      GACE Level 1 certification
·      ICC- Housing Inspector certification
·      ICC- Property Maintenance Code Certification
·      At least 2 years professional Code Enforcement experience with a local government.

 

·  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities·   
·  Knowledge of general code enforcement protocols.
·  Knowledge of inspection methods.
·   Knowledge of Erosion & Sedimentation Control measures and standards.
·   Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the general public and communicate effectively with others

 

·  Special Requirements
·   Candidates will be subject to drug testing as mandated by federal regulations.
·   Possession of an appropriate, valid Class C Georgia driver’s license is required.
·   Candidates can be assigned to evening shifts and / or weekend tours if required.
·   Must be able to perform all of the functions assigned to the position.
