Research and Development Lab Technician (1904258) – Beachwood, OH

 

Where the Chemistry Happens  

 

This technician position is newly created to support the development and maintenance of advanced chemical formulations for new construction, preservation, repair or renovation of structures.  The incumbent provides support to a team of technicians, scientists and managers through the performance of industry-related technical and organizational activities. This position reports to the Development Manager.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success 

·  The technician position is open to Level II or III based on education, experience and skillset.
·  Independently handle projects, lab evaluation, and other assigned tasks by peers and manager. Conduct lab testing following industry standards and present the findings to research team.
·  Maintain lab areas with good housekeeping, chemical inventory, safety and maintenance of equipment.
·  Provide support to the entire R&D team to complete tasks within the stipulated timeframe.  Be flexible to accommodate project priorities and customer needs.
·  Travel to plant locations in North and South America for product trials and to troubleshoot QC or process related issues.
·  Frequently interact with business teams such as, product management and sales to communicate project status and timelines.

Basic Qualifications:
·  Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D lab work. High School Diploma or equivalent may be considered with a proven track record of product development and 8 years of relevant experience.
·  Must be hands-on and have troubleshooting experience in an R&D laboratory.  Have basic understanding of testing equipment and software tools.
·  Must be able to follow standard test protocols, industry standards to complete assigned task with deadlines.  Collaborate and communicate with other team members for the success of the project.
·  Highly safety oriented.  Knows Fork lift operation or willing to get certification to operate.  Must be able to lift bags and pails of materials as a part of routine lab work.
·  Must be flexible on work hours as needed to complete time-critical testing and data collection.
