 I & E Technician (1902172) - Bishop, TX

This position is responsible for repair and maintenance of the Instrument and Electrical equipment encompassing the plant switch-gear installations, electrical and pneumatic system, PLC controllers and AC and DC drive controls.

Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

a. Identify, maintain, manage and update as need the site ARC Flash Programs, Site Ground check inspections, and site bonding inspections.  Acquire quotes from Vendors, schedule with contractor and production and monitor progress.
b. Develop plan and implement site electrical distribution systems, single line drawings and protection schemes.
c. Perform electrical short circuit analysis and Load studies.
d. Perform Hazardous area classification studies.
e. Develop substation arrangements and upgrades.
f. Plan electrical Outages with BASF and Contract personnel.  Order parts and services as needed.  (Voltage < 600)
g. Support PLC and DCS systems installations, repairs, calibrations and inspections.
h. Assemble site electrical infrastructure plan
1. Replacement of obsolete equipment
2. Installation of higher efficiency equipment
3. Long term site reliability and future growth
i. Develop and maintain site electrical maintenance strategy.
1.   Critical PM’s with details needed to troubleshoot issues
j. Develop and maintain critical electrical equipment plans, including additions to Stores stock.
k. Evaluate new technical and industrial trends related to electrical improvements.
l. Identify and recommend changes to existing power distribution systems to meet plant needs.

1. Daily work schedule:

a.   Review backlog of electrical work orders to verify the correct work orders are getting scheduled as needed.

2. Capital:

a. Provide electrical assistance on new projects.
b. Install and train craftsmen and operators on new equipment installations.

3. Training:

a. Work with Maintenance Supervisor to train electrical craftsmen on equipment troubleshooting techniques.
b. Assemble and train electrical craftsmen by use of troubleshooting maps.
c. Provide support related to safety regulations and electrical standards.
4. Responsibility
a. Build relationships with the Production operators and Maintenance craftsmen to be one Team. 
b. Write new PM’s, monitor and update existing PM’ on an as needed basis.
c. Understand/learn the operations and principals of the area operations in order to be effective at troubleshooting and solving production issues.
d. Work with Reliability Engineer to review/manage Break-in work orders; including RCFA.
e. Collaborate with Project Engineer is design and constructing all electrical power, controls, instrumentation, and process automation systems.
f. Provide standardization of equipment for maximum efficiency and economy.
g. Develop, implement and manage electrical databases and interfaces to track plant equipment and collect operational information such as power, tonnage, runtime, instrumentation parameters.
h. Identify and update single line drawings as needed.
i. Verify that appropriate hours of Electrical Preventive Maintenance Tasks are scheduled.  (Work with PM Technician, Planner, Coordinator and Reliability Engineer)
j. Write requisitions as needed.
k. Contribute to proper documentation of records, databases, and drawings to meet/exceed State and Federal Regulation, and BASF requirements.
l. Back-up Payroll to Stores

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Basic qualifications: 

•        High School Diploma or GED 
•        Minimum of 2 years’ electrical experience in a Chemical/Chemical Plant environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Two (2) year Associates Degree in a related Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical field.
• Registered apprenticeship in an Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical program.
• Academic degree in related technology area to a maximum of 4 years.
