Assistant Project Accountant - Typhoon

Would you like a highly varied role working in a fast paced environment? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Accountant at our site in Warton.

As an Assistant Project Accountant, you will work with and provide financial and decision making support to the Typhoon Capability delivery team, as well as ensuring the appropriate governance and controls are applied.

The team support activity through the whole contract lifecycle, from bid through execution and closure, and deliver Typhoon aircraft capability contracts to our Customers, the NETMA nations (UK, Germany, Spain and Italy).

This role will develop your ability to manage complex project accounting, which will provide you with the experience to progress your career within other finance areas in the BAE Systems AIR sector and wider UK business

Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Project Accountant will involve:

Delivering all internal and external reporting requirements including the production of monthly forecasts including assumptions, risks and opportunities and detailed variance analysis

Working as part of an Integrated Project Team to produce robust Contract Status Reports (CSRs), Sales and Margin Trading Plans and preparation and challenge of all phases of the Integrated Business Plan (IBP)

Supporting the business as appropriate in ensuring all budget targets are achieved; includes providing support, challenge and advice to non-finance functions including Project Management, Commercial and Procurement

Attending relevant Project meetings providing challenge to ensure information is robust and the financial impact is understood

Maintaining and improving financial controls & performance through ensuring all financial procedures and controls are applied as required; and advising non finance functions on their application

Proactively seeking to improve local processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Working towards an Accounting qualification; AAT, CIMA, ACA or ACCA

Advanced Excel skills

Desirable:

Project accounting experience

Experience of working in a cross functional environment would be beneficial

Strong Business Acumen

TM1, Baan and SAP experience would be beneficial
