About the job :

A successful candidate will be part of the team where his/her skills will help migrate a large multi-OS Linux/UNIX environment from on-premises to the cloud.  After successful migration the candidate will be supporting the majority of Linux servers in the cloud with some Linux/UNIX servers on-premise.  To be successful in this job, the candidate will need to be proficient with scripting and automation and be able and eager to automate at least 75% of their work (patching, daily support, etc.) using scripts and automation tools.

 

Core responsibilities –

-      Support Linux and other UNIX servers in a large enterprise virtualized and cloud environment

-      Support Linux and UNIX servers in High Availability clusters

-      Perform Linux/UNIX scripting and automation to achieve scalable support in a large and complex enterprise environment

-      Evaluate and execute standardization of the environment, patching and security remediation

-      Coordinate DR events and exercises

-      Build and maintain a complete and accurate master server list

-      Support Incident, Problem, Change Management

-      Lead and drive customer impacting outages

-      Act as a technical Lead on the team when needed

·  Support Linux OS in the cloud.  GCP and Azure preferred.  If not yet having these skills, the candidate should have the ability and a strong desire to learn it rapidly and be self-motivated to identify and use the training approach that enables them to develop the expertise required to support this environment.
·  Participate in migrating Linux servers from on-premise to cloud
·  Strong expertise patching Linux servers at scale using automation tools like Satellite, SuSe Manager, Ansible.
·  Uses scripting and automation for at least 75 % of work.  Ansible is a plus.

 

Minimum Requirements –

·  Computer Science degree or equivalent.
·  Must Ansible, automation, Azure, Unix Linux, Goole is a plus 
·  At least 2-4 years’ Functional/Technical Experience with Linux, UNIX virtualization management
·  Strong experience with Linux / UNIX operations on an enterprise scale
·  Ability to be and act as the last line of defense for resolving issues through researching and finding solutions, engaging vendors, collaborating with other teams and doing whatever it takes to achieve resolution
·  Support servers in High Availability clusters
·  Strong customer interaction skills
·  Great soft skills; on top of email
·  Handles themselves well under intense pressure
·  Strong understanding and following of the Incident, Problem, Change Management process
·  Coordinating builds, decoms, meeting SLAs
·  Proficient in working with as well as creating documentation to ensure support activities adhere to established policies and to cultivate, document and share the knowledge on the team

 

Preferred Qualifications –

·  Successfully onboard new customers
·  Ability to come up with and formulate the necessary questions for knowledge transfer and to obtain the information necessary to enable self to support and manage and be responsible for a Linux/UNIX server environment
·  Document the customers environments
·  Drive efficiency and automation
·  Experience/familiarity with cloud and migrating Linux servers into cloud, especially Google is a plus
