Technical Support Analyst/DBA

Worldline, an Atos Company, has a long established Rail Operations Delivery Centre in Darlington, County Durham.

The team develop, manage and support products which are used throughout the UK Rail Industry in the planning of trains, rail vehicles and operational rail crew.

This role forms part of the Environments Team, based in Darlington, and is focused on Infrastructure support and database and environment management

This is a challenging role, to work as part of a large support organisation to ensure the smooth operation of our products for our Rail customers and for internal customers such as the development, support and test teams.

This role will be ideally based in Darlington. Flexibility to work remotely could be offered to an experienced team member. Successful candidate will be expected to join on call rota.

The Technical Support Analyst/DBA will ensure that roll-outs of new releases of software from the Rail Operations area areinstalled and configuredfor internal and external customers andprovide support for Rail Operations products. They will also administer Oracle databases for both internal and external Rail Operations customers and provide technical support. Experience ofdatabase administration and support is desirable and the successful candidate will be given further Oracle training as appropriate.

The successful candidate will:

· Provide general 3rd level technical support, for PSR products

· Setup of development, test, training and demo environments

· Provide application installation and maintenance

· Support application developers and other internal customers

· Support customers remotely, diagnose problem and implement applications

· Visit customers when required for installation and troubleshooting

· Assist with installation and platform testing

· Follow processes/plans, review and update documentation

· Plan and undertake database maintenance and support activities as agreed with the customer or internal organizations

· Monitor database capacity and usage

· Administrate Oracle databases

Job Requirements

Essential Criteria:

· Windows Server, hardware, operating system installation and configuration,

· Windows Desktop, hardware, operating system installation and configuration,

· Good analytical skills and an ability to define the precise nature of customer problems

· Experience of working in a disciplined development and/or support environment

· Able to establish a good rapport with a range of business and technical colleagues.

· Able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the nature of the task in hand

· Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and self-development

Desired Criteria:

Some or all of the following:

· Experience of working with Oracle or other databases

· Microsoft MCSE

· Oracle OCP

· VMWare or other virtualization technologies

· Citrix

· IBM mainframe connectivity

· Telecommunications and networking

· Linux

· Ability to provide mentoring and advice to less experienced staff

· Experience of working in a distributed delivery environment

Knowledge of the UK Rail Industry would be an advantage but training and support can be provided.
