Key responsibilities

The 2ndLine Applications Support Analyst will be involved with the rest of the team members focusing on operability, incident and problem management, and making necessary design improvements to eliminate unplanned downtime due to technical problems in order to achieve a maximum of productivity. He understands and analyses incidents and problems, finds and implements solutions in order to maintain production continuity and communicates this in a structured and clear manner to the business and technical stakeholders.

He must be capable to perform impact analysis, not only technical but also functional, able to explain complex and technical matters in a clear and concise way to non-technical people and/or clients. He initiates improvement actions (outcome of problem analyze) and participates actively in this.

He is also involved in the deployment to production of the different software/configuration and infrastructure components. Therefore, he ensures compliancy with departmental policies (i.e. change control, IT security standards, release management, incident management).

Incident/Problem management requires analytical and solution driven skills. You work both independently and in a team environment. As a team player you share your knowledge with your team members.

You will demonstrate the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities. In the production environment you work organized, orderly, flexible and you are willing to work outside the normal business hours and on a number of planned week-end days. You are occasionally willing to work under high pressure and in these circumstances you stay calm and diplomatic in order to be as helpful as possible.

He is required, after practical training, to be on-call on a rotating basis throughout the year.

Required skills

· Education : Master or Bachelor degree in IT, Electronics or Industrial Engineering or related by experience
· Service- and result oriented
· Strong willingness to learn and capable to acquire autonomously knowledge with minimal input.
· Team working, procedure respectful, flexible, accurate and stress resistant
· Ability to work autonomously and take initiative
· Good communication, listening and interpersonal skills
· Pro-active behavior, problem solving attitude with extensive analysis experience
· Flexible
· Knowledge of ITIL processes
· Willing to be on-call
· Stress resistant and able to work under time pressure to meet deadlines.
· Proficient in English, good verbal and written Dutch or French communication skills and basic understanding of the other language

Technical Skills

· Knowledge and/or experience with Unix/Linux/Open VMS
· Knowledge of XML / XSD (XMLSPY tool)
· Knowledge of Oracle
· Knowledge and experience with Sql, capable of writing queries
· Knowledge of MQ series + Active MQ
· Knowledge and/or experience with scripting (shell/bash), JCL, DCL, Python
· Knowledge and/or experience with automation (\$Universe, TWS, CA, Crontab, etc)
· Knowledge and/or experience with programming languages is a pluspoint (Cobol, Java, C, C#, C++, Perl)
