Systems Development Engineer (Level 4) – AWS IoT Analytics Services

We are the AWS IoT Analytics Services group within the Amazon Web Services Internet of Things (AWS IoT) organization and own services that enable our customers to extract insights and value from the ocean of connected device data they are sending. We are seeking a Systems Development Engineer who is results-oriented, data driven and keen to learn what it takes to own and operate a tier-1 AWS service whilst growing their development skills.
As a Systems Development Engineer on this team, you will collaborate with more senior engineers to operate and maintain our multiple micro-services ensuring they are performant, highly available and compliant with the highest standards in security best practice. Your experience with at least 1 modern scripting language means you are able to contribute to building innovative new tools for automating our response to operational events and assisting with the development of automation wherever it can help our engineering teams be more effective.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Implement security best practices across our infrastructure to keep pace with the rising security bar
· Ensure our code deployment pipelines comply with best practice
· Own the deep host health metrics that give us visibility into system performance
· Drive improvements to our load test automation
· Develop scripts and other automation components as required
· Maintain our operational run-book documentation

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
· 2+ years practical experience in 1 or more core languages (e.g. Java, C++ or Python)
· Familiarity with linux based operating systems and command line tooling
