Support Engineer

As a member of the AWS BTS Support team you will be at the forefront of this transformational technology assisting other AWS teams that are taking advantage of the growing BTS Data Platform that drives their mission-critical decisions. You will work directly with other engineering teams within Amazon developing new capabilities and supporting existing infrastructure.

· Learn and use groundbreaking technologies.
· Apply troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our customers' individual needs.
· Work directly with Amazon Web Services data engineers to help reproduce and resolve customer issues.
· Provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve their services.
· Drive stakeholder communication during critical events

The AWS BTS Data Platform team is seeking engineers with a specialty in database and analytics technologies. You will be surrounded with people who are extraordinarily smart, passionate about cloud computing, and believe that building a robust data platform is vital to Amazon Web Services success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience in the Hadoop Ecosystem including Apache Spark and Presto
· Experience in data Data Lake architecture and administration
· Prior work experience with AWS - any or all of EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, EMR, Redshift, Glue, SageMaker Basic understanding of distributed computing environments
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Good multi-tasking skills
· Strong customer focus and ownership
· Self-starter who is excited about learning new technology
· AWS Certified Solutions Architect
· AWS certified Big Data Specialty
· Comfortable in an ambiguous, ever changing environment
· Database troubleshooting and performance tuning
· Experienced setting up monitoring / alarming for production DB environments
· Database migration and ETL experience
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field OR 4 years equivalent professional or military experience.

6+ months of Industry experience.

Experience with one or more of the following areas:
· Database Performance Tuning
· SQL/ETL
· Redshift
· Spark
· Python
· shell scripting
