The Amazon Pay team is seeking an experienced software development engineer. As a software engineer in Amazon Pay, you will have the opportunity to conceptualize, design, build, test and own software systems. You will work in an agile environment in which your code reaches a large number of customers in a matter of hours. As a leader, you will have to guide junior engineers on the team. A successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise and a passion to solve challenging problems that benefit customers. You will also need to be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
This position is based in Seattle, WA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ and/or Java preferably on a UNIX or Linux platform)
· Knowledge of Perl or other scripting languages a plus
· Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases
· Experience in optimization mathematics (linear programming, nonlinear optimization)
· Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
· Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
· Previous technical internship(s) preferred
· Graduate degree a plus

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
· Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Fluency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C# or C++.
