We are a centralized Project Management team supporting the WWCS HR and the organization's key goals and initiatives. While a major focus of the WWCS HR PM team is to track, monitor and report on programs & projects, our primary objective is leading the execution of these programs, focusing on the strategic outcomes and expected benefits. Our team understands the key WWCS HR network priorities, incorporates program-specific and/or domain knowledge, and can effectively manage traditional PMO activities, including risk assessment/mitigation, establishing and managing project schedules, cost and scope.

As a Data Scientist on the Amazon WWCSHR PMO team, will build machine learning and statistical models, using our world class data systems, to identify patterns in people data. The ideal candidate will thrive and have demonstrated success in an environment which offers ambiguously defined problems, big challenges, and quick changes. This role goes beyond just model generation and you will be expected to integrate the results of the models into our world class web portal.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Build decision-making models and propose solutions for the business problem you defined
· Conduct written and verbal presentation to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication
· Ability to 'Think Big' and make decisions or recommendations
· Utilize code (Python, R. SQL or other statistical software) for statistical data analyzing and modeling algorithms

· Translate / Interpret:
o Translate ambiguous business questions and concerns into specific quantitative questions that can be answered with available data using sound methodologies.
· Measure / Quantify / Expand
o Retrieve, synthesize, and present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions or improving system performance.
o Analyze historical data to identify trends and support decision making.
o Improve upon existing methodologies by developing new data sources, testing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters.
o Provide requirements to develop analytic capabilities, platforms, and pipelines.
o Apply statistical or machine learning knowledge to specific business problems and data.
· Explore / Enlighten
o Formalize assumptions, create statistical definition of the outlier, and develop methods to systematically identify these outliers. Work out why such examples are outliers and define if any actions needed.
o Given anecdotes about anomalies or generate automatic scripts to define anomalies, deep dive to explain why they happen, and identify fixes.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelors Degree with 5 years of experience
· Experience in SQL and R, or Python
· Track record of diving into data to discover hidden patterns and of conducting error/deviation analysis
· Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance
· Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, using strong baselines, and determining cause and effect relations
· Evidence of using of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc. in data analysis projects
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
