Job description

DESCRIPTION

Do you want to help students prepare for the cloud-enabled workforce of tomorrow? AWS Educate is looking for an innovative, driven, talented Program Manager to help ensure that students are well-prepared to enter the Cloud workforce. AWS Educate is part of Amazon Web Services Public Sector group and is focused on enabling students and educators for cloud computing careers. Launched in 2015, AWS Educate is focused on building bold initiatives to accelerate the integration and application of Cloud content and tools into classrooms around the globe. AWS Educate members include universities, community colleges, and high schools – and the educators and students from these institutions.

This Higher Ed Program Manager will help academic institutions develop credit-bearing programs in cloud computing by fostering strong connections between them and employers in the tech industry, with a focus on work-based learning and successful job placement. To do this, you will need to be a strong owner, working closely our core customer set for the product: post-secondary students, faculty and leaders, MOOC providers, online content providers, employers, and across internal teams like marketing, product, and recruitment/HR to help define the program, and execute against it. You will work with education leaders and faculty to build a scalable program, driving collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support curriculum and program design, professional development, and engagement with employers.

This role requires a leader who can be inventive and fearless while balancing operational excellence and program success. Ownership will include deep engagement with core customer segments – in particular education leaders, faculty, and employers – as well as with internal and external design teams to ensure that AWS Educate programming aligns with the latest requirements from industry. The Higher Education Program Manager will have an opportunity to impact the way Amazon Web Services engages with the post-secondary community by experimenting with applied models and programming in cloud computing.

The successful program manager is a self-starter who can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before. He/she will dive deep into research on best practices, and organize/facilitate outcome-based work sessions with external stakeholders (e.g. faculty, administrators, employers) and internal teams to define program requirements that align with global and local workforce needs to inform curriculum frameworks, professional development, and student learning experiences.

Some of the key job functions:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders (e.g. education leaders, faculty, and employers) and internal teams (e.g. product, marketing, content, membership, recruiting).
· Identify learning objectives, performance outcomes, and evaluative strategies to deliver content including consulting with program owners and subject matter experts to identify performance gaps and content requirements.
· Gather requirements from appropriate business owners, write clear and detailed functional specifications, prioritize features, and drive technical scoping as needed.
· Model and design projects with future global rollout and constraints in mind.
· Manage the creation of content/product/feature prototypes and pilots.
· Work with US and international Educate program managers to understand and address programmatic, curricular and UX pain points related to implementation.
· Partner with membership team to create and manage feedback systems to monitor implementation needs to support the successful adoption and implementation of AWS in the classroom.
· Manage program deliverables within budgetary, resource and scheduling requirements against defined project milestones and deadlines.
· Be the voice of the customer, ensuring that their needs are at the forefront of our content efforts and help our team iterate and improve on our content offering.
· Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with smart, motivated people who are passionate about education.
· Travel up to 30%, domestic and globally, and sometimes on short notice.
