Description of the job
A vacancy for a Configuration Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Stevenage. The successful applicant will join the Telecom Technical Data Management department integrated within the Space Central Engineering division. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for managing the overall configuration of military telecommunication satellites from the bid to the delivery.
Tasks and Accountabilities
The Configuration Manager will be in charge of the entire configuration of military satellites. This includes the overall system and product configuration as well as the documentation management.
The Configuration Manager will also implement the best configuration and document control processes using Airbus PLM tool, taking into account the project specific requirements.
The Configuration Manager main activities will be as follow:
Define processes and best working practices in line with security and other project requirements
Liaise with internal Airbus teams and the Customer for configuration and document management topics
Ensure sub-system configuration and documentation is constantly up to date (liaison with other team members)
Creation and Maintenance of the As-Designed including project product tree, design documentation, design change.
Run As-Designed and As-Built CIDL for project milestones.
Baseline management
End Item datapack creation and release
Manage all supplier equipment documentation and prepare deliveries to the customers.
Ensure consistency between As-Designed, As-Procured and As-Built.
Register test and production data, ensuring actions are monitored and completed on time
Generate and process change request and change notes.
Be the focal point for the all configuration aspects on the project and provide support to the teams
Ensure configuration and document management processes are correctly applied
You will be required to interface with various teams in the UK.
Regular travels between Stevenage and Portsmouth foreseen.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experiences:
Experience in configuration and technical documentation management (5 years minimum)
Previous experience in military industry would be a strong advantage
S/C clearance is mandatory
Ability to understand engineering documentation topics (basic)
Previous experience in PLM tool (Windchill would be an advantage) and sharepoint
Strong analytical and organisation skills
A methodical approach to work, with strong motivation, commitment and drive to bring tasks to completion on time, even where adverse conditions are encountered
Ability to manage parallel activities achieving demanding targets
Ability to interact with various technical teams and management
Strong Team player
Autonomy, tenacity and rigour are mandatory
The Payload Configuration Manager role requires occasional travels overseas.
