You will join the Airbus Defence and Space Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team based in Stevenage. EHS provides expert advice and guidance to design, production, test, research and development of satellite and spacecraft systems, including exciting projects such as Mars Rover and Solar Orbiter. The friendly and supportive EHS team work with engineers and managers on risk assessment, auditing and monitoring in the workplace where state of the art technologies and high performance materials are used in the production of satellites. The EHS team interfaces with all part of the business which gives the candidate an opportunity to see all aspects of the organisation.

Tasks & accountabilities

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

·  Auditing and assessment of health, safety and environment risks in the workplace.
·  Assisting with chemical risk assessment and update of the COSHH database.
·  Entering data into Excel and SharePoint computer applications.
·  Manipulation of data to produce reports, presentations and indicators to the business.
·  Assisting with the management of hazardous wastes.
·  Assisting with the monitoring of work place hazards such as noise, chemicals and lighting.
·  Producing information pages on our Intranet system ‘The HUB', producing new and updated publications, newsletter compilation, designing and implementing poster campaigns.

Required skills

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

·  Currently studying towards a degree in Science, Chemistry or related discipline
·  A keen interest in health, safety and environment
·  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
·  Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
·  A good team player with a proven ability to prioritise work, organise and use own initiative.
