Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.

AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support.  Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job

UK Military Flying Training System (Rotary Wing) Aircraft Refueller/Handler, Shawbury
Reports to UK MFTS (RW) Transport Manager


·  The Aircraft Fueller/Handler is responsible for ensuring that the aircraft fleet are positioned and appropriately fuelled to schedule in support of Flight Operations and Base Maintenance activities.

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:

·  To handle and refuel aircraft in accordance with JIG regulations and compliance with Health and Safety regulations and security requirements, including Rotors Running Refuels.
·  To ensure Health and Safety is maintained and respected at all times including internal policy.
·  Supplying fuel to aircraft by tanker vehicles and ensuring that the correct quantity of fuel is delivered.
·  Operating in accordance with JIG, IATA, Airport, Health & Safety, HM Customs and ASIG regulations and procedures.
·  Conducting vehicle checks by carrying out the designated quality control procedures. Identifying any defects found and reporting accordingly.
·  Reporting any incidents and providing reports as required.

       

The post holder would ideally have the following Knowledge and Skills:

ESSENTIAL

·  Up to date knowledge of H&S appropriate to HAZMAT, Helicopter Operations and active airfields.
·  High level of numeracy and literacy skills required.
·  Strong work ethic and team working skills.
·  Excellent communication skills.

DESIRABLE

·  Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS.  

We require the post holder to have the following Education, Qualifications or special training:

ESSENTIAL

·  Valid driving licence with LGV C+E and ADR (Class 3 in tanks) and DQC (CPC)

DESIRABLE

·  Digital Tachograph Driver Card.  

The post holder should have the following experience:

ESSENTIAL

·  Aircraft re-fuelling experience.
·  Aircraft handling experience
·  Health and safety awareness and respect is essential.
·  Experience of supporting busy Flight Operations.

DESIRABLE

·  Helicopter re-fuelling experience, including rotors running.

  

Key performance indicators:

·    Ensure that zero MFTS sorties are late or cancelled as a result of Aircraft handling/fuelling issues.

Other requirements :

TRAVEL

·  Required to work shifts as part of normal working pattern.
·  Required to work at Valley site, North Wales, if operationally required.
