Description of the job

Airbus is looking for an Aircraft Performance Engineer with strong IT skills to join our team based in Toulouse, France.

The team activities are related to Aircraft Flight Physics and more specifically Aircraft Performance. Aircraft Performance is at the heart of our Aeronautic industry.

In that context, you mission will be to deal with the implementation of functions (On Board Applications) based on Aircraft Performance model within avionics (and more specifically on Flight Management System).

Tasks & accountabilities

The main activities of the “Aircraft Performance” domain are to establish Airbus Aircraft Overall Performance, provide all required Performance Software and Data for internal and external users, from pre-development phase, to certification and support in service.

You will be involved in the design of algorithms/functions representing the aircraft behaviour (as far as performance is concerned) and implemented in the systems (mainly in the Flight Management System (FMS) or more generally in the avionics) or hosted on remote devices used by the crew or supporting web services to optimise flight operations.

The principle responsibilities of the role can be summarized as follows:

·  Propose innovative solutions supported by new concepts (e.g. big data) and experiment them through prototyping.

·  Integrate performance knowledge in functions or services by delivering associated performance data to systems and system suppliers.

·  Optimise ways of working and processes.

You will interface with Flight Tests & Operation teams, with Overall Aircraft Design teams and with System Designers or System suppliers.

·  Engineering background in Aeronautics specialising in Aircraft Flight Physics, Flight Mechanics or Flight Operations.

·  Skills in Data Science and Computer Science/Coding are mandatory to support new developments by prototyping & new concepts (Big Data).

·  Good communication skills; Team spirit, collaboration, pro-activity, dynamism.

·  Advanced level in English is required; French would be appreciated.
