The role is part of a UK wide team of multi-skilled Support Engineers adding value to customers for their systems and solutions in a controlled environment.

In this role you will be responsible for providing engineering support for the Operational IT services and systems in the Blue Light Command and Control space. Working with customers directly the role includes the daily management of customer incidents, working with suppliers on problems and defects, change control & release management for all critical IT and voice systems employed.

Involvement in project work as part of the wider group is also available to further skills development, experience, and progression within the team.

You will ensure all work is completed on time and to high standards. You must be self-motivated and confident as working on your own is as important as being an integral part of the team.

The role provides 24x7 cover for the customers supported, a 4 week on call remit is required for the role which covers weekends.

This is an ideal role for an ICT engineer to develop their career further due to the variety of work and opportunity to develop new skills.

·  Provide an ITIL centric service for customers, supporting continual service improvement as agreed and directed by the management team.

·  Maintain good customer relationships and ensure all technical issues are addressed in a professional and timely manner, ensuring all Service Level Agreements are met.

·  Liaise with suppliers for incident and problem resolution.

·  Conduct system changes approved for release.

·  Create support documentation as required by the Support Manager to a high standard.

·  Produce and maintain a test documentation set for system changes and baseline tests.

·  Maintain system configuration in accordance with define policies and practices.

·  Conduct planned maintenance activities.

·  Carry out problem investigations in conjunction with the wider engineering group and write up the results.

·  Effective communicator (both written and verbal).

·  Develop practices and policies for effective engineering delivery and support Continual Service Improvement initiatives.

Skills/Qualifications:

Experience from an IT background is essential, but training can be provided where some of the more domain specific skills are not held.

Experience in the following areas will be required:

·  Maintenance of Server Hardware and diagnosis

·  Maintenance of Windows and Linux based systems

·  Use of Active Directory systems

·  IP Network Routing and Switching, and Firewalls.

·  Proven knowledge of Health & Safety and best working practices.

·  An understanding of Security and Quality standards applicable to the IT Support sector

Desirable

·  Experienced in working in the Blue Light sector.

·  Providing high quality and timely support in a dynamic customer environment

·  ITIL Certification

·  An understanding of SQL Databases and basic querying

·  Maintenance of Voice Systems (TDM and/or SIP)

·  Maintenance and configuration of Computer Aided Dispatch Systems

·  Windows Server OS Deployment, Administration, and maintenance

·  Active Directory administration and Group Policy creation

·  SQL Databases administration or querying

·  Virtualisation

·  IT Security

·  IT Automation

·  IT Management systems

·  Conducting System tests
