Laboratory Assistant/Technician

Duration: 12 months FTC with possibilty to extend

Location: Witney

Monday - Friday 8am-4pm

Adecco has a great opportunity with our pharmaceutical client to join their R&D team in lab based enviroment. The role would be ideal for aspiring Lab Assitant or Science gradute lookig for a role to develop and broad their skills.

To monitor and assist in laboratory activities, including the performance of technicians and deputise for the supervisor in their absence as required. To be responsible for the routine laboratory testing, analysing the results and recording the correct data with the associated batch records. To assist in the control of the testing of materials and/or foil packed test strips, ensuring completion of tests as scheduled and that records produced are to a standard acceptable.

Responsibilities:

·  Act as a coordinator, communicating details of laboratory activities with supervisor/group leader and representing work group if and when required.

·  Train technical staff in procedures relevant to laboratories and in new revisions of these procedures.

·  Provide input and feedback for performance appraisals and development plans.

·  Responsible for maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality System at the site in accordance with divisional and corporate requirements and applicable regulations.

·  Act as approval [second] signatory for test records relevant to the laboratory.

·  Ensure all log books are complete and correct, i.e. equipment, samples & consumables should be labelled appropriately.

·  Inform the supervisor/group leader of any nonconformities to Standard Operating Procedures or Company Policy.

·  Compliance with EHS regulations and business standards by adhering to EHS systems, programmes and procedures.

·  Being accountable for the Health & Safety of themselves and others and by highlighting where improvements to EHS performance can be made.

·  Perform all Technician responsibilities.

·  Make sure all scheduled testing is performed correctly in a timely manner and is completed at the end of each day.

·  Assist and resolve work related problems arising in the laboratories.

·  Check the calibration, maintenance and cleaning procedures for both equipment and laboratories are performed to plan.

·  Ensure all batch samples are stored appropriately.

·  Recommend any new laboratory equipment when required.

·  Ensure all stocks of all consumables are ordered as and when required.

Requirements:

·  GCSEs in English Language, Mathematics and/or one science subject are required

·  Previous laboratory experience is necessary, as position requires experience of good laboratory practices.

·  Must be able to function independently and be familiar with laboratory safety practices.

·  Must be accurate and organised in work approach and have good attention to detail.

·  Must have good written and oral communication.
