Job Title:Production Technician
Reports To: Production Team Leader
Location: Runcorn, UK

Job Purpose:
To manufacture, test and quality assure specific chromatography products to meet the required output/throughput and quality levels. To carry out in-process development as necessary to improve production processes and increase efficiency. To liaise with the Team Leader in order to plan day-to-day operations and achieve the required levels of quantity, quality and cost of production.

The manufacture of the silica includes complex & hazardous chemical processes and use of analytical testing instruments as well as interpretation of results, problem solving and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Production and Testing
Carry out production processes in strict accordance with prescribed manufacturing procedures and practices with due regard to appropriate health & safety, quality management and good lab practices.
Undertake test procedures as required in order to ensure product quality standards are achieved.
Working with the Team Leader and/or colleagues, identify and implement innovative ways to reduce process cycle times and increase yield & batch right-first-time performance.
Maintain a safe, clean and tidy laboratory and work space.
Monitor material inventory, including use of a fork lift truck and controlling storage & disposal of waste products.Be familiar with and follow the quality management system requirements, including relevant SOPs such as change control & operating work instructions.

Problem Solving and General Responsibilities
Using chemical knowledge & experience, identify, take ownership and implement process improvements, for example

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
* GCSE or equivalent (grade C or above) in Maths, English & Science.
* Industrial or laboratory experience is advantageous.
* Knowledge and understanding of chemistry in general.
* Ability to take responsibility, work on own initiative and meet deadlines as well as working as part of a team maintaining a high level of communication and mutual support.
* Attention to detail.
* Communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability and willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills and take ownership of personal development.
* Basic PC skills, in particular Excel.

Monday - Friday 8.00am - 16.00pm, £10.92 per hour
