Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for a Database Administrator / Developer to be based at ENGIE No 1 Leeds, 26 Whitehall Rd, Leeds LS12 1BE. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week . On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Provide support for the organisation’s Oracle and SQL Server database environments running on Windows, Solaris and Linux 
·  Provide support for all the Production and Pre-Production database environments 
·  Perform database upgrades and apply software patches as and when required on all database environments
·  Creation and removal of database environments as required
·  Create and monitor Standby databases and associated replication
·  Refresh the none production database environments on request
·  Perform software releases to both the Pre-Production and Production database environments
·  Apply data fixes to Pre-Production and Production database environments as required
·  Support Data Warehouse deployments to both the Pre-Production and Production environments
·  Ensure database backups complete successfully
·  Develop standards for data analysis tools and techniques
·  Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles and a detailed knowledge of database architectures, software and facilities
·  Optimise database performance and plans for forecast resource needs
·  Investigate and resolve database issues
·  Provide out of hours support as part of an on-call rota
·  Adherence to internal governance processes and control frameworks
·  Liaise with external organizations and third party suppliers for ongoing support and maintenance.
·  Collaborate in system development projects; defining and analysing business requirements and developing appropriate solutions & processes
·  Assist in developing and maintaining appropriate disaster recovery systems and procedures in line with the Company’s Business Continuity Plans
·  Evaluate potential solutions, demonstrating, installing and commissioning selected products

Required Qualifications or Experience:

Qualifications:
Essential:

·  Suitable A-levels or equivalent
Desirable

·  Appropriate specialist technical qualifications for supporting, maintaining and/or developing databases, information manipulation and associated applications
·  Oracle Certified Professional qualification or Microsoft CSA 
·  Degree level or equivalent, preferably Information Technology or Computer Science
Experience:

·  Development and production DBA experience utilising Oracle running on Linux operating system platforms
·  Development and production DBA experience of SQL Server in development and production environments
·  Database performance analysis
·  Database capacity planning
·  Exposure to IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) software 
·  Experienced in working in a 24/7 support environment
Knowledge:

·  Excellent understanding of information systems concepts and practice and, especially, of object and data modelling, databases and database management systems, and the use of information as a resource 
·  Good knowledge of relational database technologies, eg SQL Server / Oracle
·  Good knowledge of multi-environment systems, including Standby and DR
·  Knowledge of Oracle RMAN, Data Pump and Import/Export utilities
·  Microsoft SSIS package development and deployment
·  Knowledge of Microsoft SSRS and SSAS
·  Good knowledge of technology so as to be able to select optimal solutions to business problems
·  Understanding of business processes and systems, ideally from an Energy & Services perspective
·  Detailed knowledge of the appropriate corporate data standards and of the appropriate professional and/or legal data standards
