Fitness Instructor/Resort Activity Attendant

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Resort Activities Assistant Manager, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· 
Provide health, fitness & wellness leadership to guests, members and colleagues

· 
Lead safe and effective group fitness classes, workshops and outdoor programs as required

· 
Ensure the facility is in peak condition at all times: operations, cleaning and sanitization of all equipment, supplies well stocked, facility tidy                      

· 
Assist guests and members with any questions or concerns they have whilst using the facility

· 
Become versed in all aspects of the Health Club’s operations ie; telephone, guest relations, Resort Activities services (Kid’s Camp, Heritage Guides, etc.) and retail sales

· 
Participate actively in all scheduled meetings, emergency drills, training sessions and community events promoting the facility

· 
Maintain a professional image while dressing properly and speaking positively on behalf of the facility, leading an active and healthy lifestyle

· 
Assist with promotional activities and initiatives

· 
Ensure that Resort Activities maintains a positive relationship with all departments in the hotel

· 
Have complete understanding of and adhere to all company policies and rules including those relating to Fire, Hygiene and Safety

· 
Ensure guest/member satisfaction at all times by reinforcing that safety and service is always our priority.  

· 
Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service

· 
Welcome guests to the Health Club and ensure they have a safe and enjoyable experience

· 
Ensure the Health Club area is clean and well maintained with adequate supplies in pool area and change rooms

· 
Instruct guests in use of equipment and ensure safety regulations are adhered to in fitness/pool areas

· 
Assist in continuous marketing and promotion of all Resort Activities’ activities

· 
Support and assist the Conference Services team with special events as required

· 
Support Resort Activities team with boathouse, rental shop and resort activities desk duties as required

· 
Follow departmental policies and procedures

· 
To adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required

· 
Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
• Degree in kinesiology or other related exercise/fitness degree/diploma
• Previous Group Fitness experience
• Experience teaching Group Fitness classes
• Successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, effective communicator who enjoys working with people, pays attention to detail, and has proven record in program design and/or program facilitation

Qualifications:

• Group Fitness certification
• Current CPR and First Aid
• Must possess outstanding guest service skills, including professional verbal communication skills
• Highly responsible and reliable, demonstrating initiative as required
• Proven ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, team-based environment

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
• Exercise demonstration/participation as required for Group Fitness classes (including lifting weights)
• Walking (including up and down stairs)
• Standing
• Cleaning duties (including lifting weights and equipment)
• Sitting at a desk using the computer
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
