JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary:

Work in a laboratory environment to perform studies on solutions and chemicals using advanced physical methods including colloidal and interfacial science. Perform manufacture of solutions and bulks, design experiments and analyze data.  Work in a team environment to plan and share project tasks, including laboratory studies and results presentations to management.

Main Responsibilities:

Conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets results and draws conclusions.

Recommends options for other project approaches or experiments.

Internal data presentations within R&D organization.

Expertise and Problem Solving: Recognizes and resolves technical problems; evaluates options for complex experimental problems; utilizes analytical instruments.

Project Planning: Participates in project planning and updates; executes project plan; participates in defining project goals; develops timelines; comprehends resource requirements.

Lab Safety: Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety.

Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.

Conducts research; develops new procedures related to R&D processes.

Accountability/Scope:

Within project - contributes to the definition and timely achievement of goals.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree

Minimum of 1-year experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a life or physical science.

General chemistry/physics/engineering background with experience on material science. Knowledge and application of experimental design.  Experience in the handling of bulk solutions, including gravimetric analytical measurements, positive displacement pipettes, filtration techniques and mixing. Experience on colloidal and/or surface science for characterization of bulk solutions such as surface tension, light scattering techniques; rheology a plus. Good laboratory practices, record keeping and computer skills are expected.  Some experience in surfactant technology is desirable.
