JOB DESCRIPTION:

About Abbott

At Abbott, we're committed to helping you live your best possible life through the power of health. For more than 125 years, we've brought new products and technologies to the world -- in nutrition, diagnostics, medical devices and branded generic pharmaceuticals -- that create more possibilities for more people at all stages of life. Today, 107,000 of us are working to help people live not just longer, but better, in the more than 160 countries we serve.

Abbott in the UK

In mainland UK, Abbott employs over 1,500 people across multiple sites. Abbott has a manufacturing centre of excellence in Witney (Oxfordshire), commercial and support operations in Solihull, Maidenhead and Sale, and a Nutrition distribution site in Sittingbourne. Abbott began manufacturing in the UK in 1937.

Abbott’s Award Winning Programme is currently inviting applications from final year student / graduates for our 2021 Professional Development Graduate Programme (PDP). The scheme will commence in Witney, a Diabetes Care facility part of our Medical Device Division. The Witney site manufactures significant quantities of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014.

The Abbott Professional Development Programme (PDP) offers graduates an opportunity to apply and further develop their skills in different areas and divisions at our sites across the UK and abroad over a three-year period. During this time, graduates will rotate through three diverse and challenging 12 month assignments, on the following basis:

            Year One       Technical rotation

            Year Two       Supervisory role

            Year Three    Global Operational Excellence

If successful your role could involve working in a variety of Engineering or Science led areas - manufacturing, projects, quality, laboratory, scientific, technical services or research and development.

From this experience, you will develop a deep understanding of our company as well as develop your management, technical and interpersonal skills. In addition to your development being supported by your assignment manager, you will also be paired with a mentor who will assist you in navigating your career throughout the program.
