JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position resides in Abbott Laboratories' Corporate Engineering Global Maintenance Excellence (MEx) group and focuses on driving improvements in site maintenance effectiveness, cost efficiency and maintenance related compliance (GMP, EHS, etc.) across all Abbott divisions.

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineering Professional with skills and experience desired for this position including:

  • Maintenance asset management best practices for: asset descriptions, locations, maintenance procedures, failure modes and spare parts management
  • Optimizing maintenance work flow processes through planning and scheduling, execution and documentation
  • Moving maintenance programs from preventive to predictive to maximize uptime
  • Maximizing overall equipment effectiveness
  • Optimization of preventive maintenance for equipment
  • Continuous improvement programs monitoring KPIs and increasing asset reliability
  • Industry best practices (TPM, RCM) to improve asset reliability
  • Preparing and delivering training materials for maintenance best practices
  • IBM Maximo, setting up and maintaining asset preventive maintenance programs and stockrooms

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the global maintenance excellence team, this position:

Uses established project management tools and techniques to direct and manage project execution, track cost savings, provide management updates and achieve defined project and organizational objectives.

Identifies and develops maintenance best practices to improve maintenance effectiveness and efficiency globally across Abbott's sites.

Implements defined maintenance best practices to global sites through on-site training and mentoring, support conference calls and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

Concurrently leads development of project charters and documents the initial requirements that satisfy the stakeholders' needs and expectations for Maintenance Excellence projects across multiple sites.

Prepares professional written communication. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents with team members and other personnel, using appropriate communication protocols. Exhibits ability to apply concepts of careful communication.

Develops, implements and expands the Abbott global (PdM) program. This may include development of PdM strategy, instructional design and program delivery.

Provides technical expertise to the global PdM program and assists in the execution of programs and initiatives designed to improve organizational effectiveness across the global sites.

Collaborates with Abbott site representatives to understand their preventative maintenance and training needs based on competency, manufacturing business needs and equipment assessments.

Identifies ways of increasing customer satisfaction. Establishes relationships and good communication channels with customers; documents agreements and commitments.

As needed, participates on internal, cross-divisional teams to develop and align procedures and standards.

This person must have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, drive towards consensus and decision and successfully negotiate among peers and customers.


Education and Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in equipment maintenance or reliability field.

Manufacturing plant experience in a GMP and/or quality regulated environment.

Experience presenting in front of large groups and to upper management.

Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and IBM Maximo or similar CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).

Experience with COGNOS, Emerson (Machinery Health Management), data analytics, maintenance planning and scheduling, stockroom and spare parts management, predictive maintenance and reliability a plus

Travel of up to 25% is required.
